At times communication in a business setting must be persuasive. In this assignment for my Strategic Business Writing course, I was tasked with creating a brochure and fundraising letter on behalf of a non-profit organization. The brochure was meant to convince a general audience that the issue addressed is important. The fundraising letter was meant to specifically target a group that has the most potential to help the cause.
I chose to communicate the message of a non-profit called Not For Sale. The organization, based in San Francisco, strives to end slavery by establishing business in communities vulnerable to human trafficking. For the brochure, I decided to emphasize the fact that slavery is still prominent and highlight the strategy that Not For Sale uses to fight it.
Due to the fact that Not For Sale relies on partnerships, my target audience for the fundraising letter is mid-sized business owners. In this letter I used a peer-to-peer tone and accentuated how a partnership would help their company.
